چکیده

Many different instruments have been developed for the measurement of friction and wear.1-5 Often the instrument was designed to accommodate some particular type of material, environment, or test condition. Studies reported in the dental literature have been limited to wear measurements with simulated toothbrushing methods,6-9 or on prosthetic teeth mounted on an articulator.10 This study will describe the experimental instrumentation for tests under a variety of variables, as well as simulated mouth conditions. Friction and wear measurements of a variety of restorative dental materials also will be reported.

Investigation on the Tribological Behavior and Wear Mechanism of Five Different Veneering Porcelains

OBJECTIVES The primary aim of this research was to investigate the wear behavior and wear mechanism of five different veneering porcelains. METHODS Five kinds of veneering porcelains were selected in this research. The surface microhardness of all the samples was measured with a microhardness tester. Wear tests were performed on a ball-on-flat PLINT fretting wear machine, with lubrication of ...

An Empirical Equation including Fracture Toughness and Describing Friction of Dental Restorat~e Materials

An equation was developed from studies of single-pass wear and fracture toughness of filled and unfilled dental restorative resins and dental amalgams relating the sliding frictional force F to the normal load N, fracture toughness, modulus of elasticity, yield strength and slider diameter. This equation was of the same form as that reported for viscoelastic materials (F = KW). Friction was cau...

Mechanics of Contact and Lubrication, MTM G230 Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Northeastern University Spring 2006 Wear of Dental Restorative Materials

Gradual wear of opposing teeth is a normal phenomenon in human dentition. To ensure a better quality of life through better dental health, there is a need for quality dental restorative materials to repair or replace natural teeth. Several aspects are looked at when designing a proper dental implant. Aesthetics, durability, and integration with the supporting teeth and soft tissues are some key...

350-356 Yip (new)

350 The excessive differential wear of teeth and restorative materials has significant deleterious effects on the biologic, functional, and esthetic condition of the masticatory system. However, controlled investigations of numerous factors that might influence tooth and restoration wear have been mainly laboratory studies, the findings of which might not correlate with either the physical prop...

Two-body wear of dental restorative materials.

AIM The aim of this in vitro study was to determine the two-body wear resistance of modern direct dental restorative materials. METHODS Eight standardized specimens were prepared from 14 dental restorative materials (nano-, micro-, hybrid-, macrofilled composites; compomer, silorane, ormocer); a veneering composite (Sinfony) and enamel were used for reference. Vickers hardness (HV) and inorga...
